Combination of Agility and Plyometric Training Provides Similar Training Benefits as Combined Balance and Plyometric Training in Young Soccer Players

It’s mostly trained athletes that engage in plyometrics, but anyone can give plyometrics a shot. These workouts rarely involve equipment, and if they do, it’s usually bars for pull-ups and dips. What separates calisthenics from other training methodologies is its emphasis on progression through leverage rather than simply adding weight.

To perform the Stork stand test, participants stood with their opposite foot against the inside of the supporting knee and both hands on the hips. On the command, participants raised the heel of their foot from the floor and attempted to maintain their balance as long as possible. The trial ended if the participant either moved his hands from his hips, the ball of the dominant foot moved from its original position, or if the heel touched the floor. Specificity

Plyometrics enhances momentary explosive movements and produces better gains than resistance training. Recent studies have reported that the appropriate training period for PTs is recommended to be 8–12 weeks [69]. However, it does not provide specific insight or recommendations on these issues. These results require further study of optimal training times and jump heights for different muscle groups.

Precautions and risks

Movements can have the effects of overload from the standpoint of ROM. The ROM can be performed throughout a larger range via an exaggerated movement pattern. The concept is to employ the muscle activation and stretch reflex within a specific ROM.

You risk a plateau in your training without some challenging work-arounds. If your goal is to get really big muscles, it may be hard to get there with callisthenics alone. It would likely be simpler for most people to gain muscle in a gym using traditional methods such as machine and free weights with a combination of various sets and reps. Callisthenics exercises draw on your natural movement; when children climb on monkey bars and jump between pieces of play equipment, they’re basically doing callisthenics.
